Journey to East Africa
Dear Devotees,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All Glories to Srila Prabhupada.
Recently I had to travel to Nairobi – Kenya from Blantyre – Malawi and the period of my journey included the first week of December. As this would mean missing the Marathon during this period I tried to distribute books during the journey which was done by bus. I couldn’t distribute on all of the bus journeys since in some of them the passengers wouldn’t know English and I didn’t have Swahili books on me. The following is an account of my preaching during different legs of this journey. Continue reading “Journey to East Africa”

On the advent of Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura
“Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada immediately took up the land. He continued that ‘There is no need of establishing many temples. Better we publish some books.’ He said like that.
“He said that ‘We started our this Gaudiya Matha in Ultadanga. The rent was very small, and if we could gather two to two-hundred-fifty rupees, it was very nice, going on. But since this J. V. Datta has given us this stone, marble stone thakurbari, our competition between the disciples has increased. So I don’t like any more. Rather, I would prefer to take out the marble stone and sell it and publish some books.’ Continue reading “On the advent of Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura”
Excerpt from Madhumangala’s Preaching Diary
Submitted by Madhumangala Dasa Dar es Salaam Diary Entry 1st March 2012 This morning I went to Prakash Prabhu’s office to get more Swahili Science of Self Realizations. Outside there were some men sitting and having a conversation – when they saw the books, they became curious and asked me what type of books they were. Just next to me was a table with some … Continue reading Excerpt from Madhumangala’s Preaching Diary

Dar es Salaam
Diary Entry 28th February 2012
I had a blissful day distributing books in downtown Dar es Salaam. The main street was a hive of activity – taxis, busses, a huge sea of people coming and going, street vendors on every corner selling everything from belts, wallets to exotic fruits of all kinds.
People would stare at me with a curious look, but all the time smiling and greeting me. I stopped one barrister on his way to court, dressed in his court dress, and traditional white shirt and neck tie. I began to speak to him and told him the reason the laws are not working, is because Continue reading “Law Books for the next 10 000 years”
Book distribution must go on
I shall never forget the ecstasy when we received the first shipment of Bhagavad-gitas. They were delivered right to the door of the storefront one evening at six o’clock, just before the evening kirtana. Afterwards, I stood up to give the customary concluding announcements. But this time, I held in my hands this beautiful purple-colored book and practically cried as I announced that finally your labor of love was published and everyone could take advantage of it. Now the world could read the Bhagavad-Gita As It Is, for the first time. You were not in New York Continue reading “Book distribution must go on”
