We have some exciting updates to share. On the 26th of March 2012, by the wonderful causeless mercy of Srila Prabhupada,  6 medium sets of His Divine books were delivered to the 6 Prison libraries in Pretoria.

For the past few weeks we have had good interaction with the ‘Department of Development and Care’ in Pretoria and after numerous emails and meetings, the Department very happily accepted 6 sets for the 6 libraries in Pretoria. This is amazingly Srila Prabhupada’s mercy, as we were not expecting such a receptive and welcoming stance from them.

The gentleman on the left of the picture is actually a pastor who is responsible for spiritual care and the gentleman on the right is the Director of the Department. They were very receptive and agreed that these books cut across all religions and can greatly benefit anyone who reads them, both of them had a high regard for the books. In fact the director made a very nice statement: “If even one inmate can benefit from these books, we will be very grateful…but surely many will benefit from these books”. Srila Prabhupada ki Jai.

We are presently in communication with the Director for Spiritual Care for the National Headquarters of all prisons (or as it is termed, the Department of Correctional Services) to agree and allow us to place sets across all prison libraries throughout South Africa. This is quite a tall order, and we do not have the ability to do this on our own, this will require lots of blessings….we beg for your mercy and empowerment that this may become a reality, as this will really please Srila Prabhupada. We’ll keep you posted on progress.
